Welcome to Sharmans Fine Wines
Sharmans Fine Wines are made from grapes grown at the "North Esk River" vineyard which can be located on the banks of the North Esk River at Relbia in Northern Tasmania.
It is quite close to and south of the city of Launceston. The site has proven to be excellent for the production of premium wine. It has good exposure to the north and a pleasant view down the valley to the Ben Lomond ski fields.
We are part of the famous Tamar Valley Wine Route which includes Josef Chromy Wines and Bundaleera Vineyard as our next door neighbours.
History
Vines were first planted in the Relbia area in 1823 at Marchington Estate. It is interesting to note that propagating material for the establishment of vines in North Adelaide in 1837 came from Launceston.
The early industry was centred around fortified wines and it is only since the rise in importance of table wines that Tasmania has become a major producer and the North Esk valley at Relbia established as a superior site for wine production.
Production
Sharmans produce Pinot Noir, Bordeaux Blend, Chardonnay (oaked and unoaked), Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Sparkling, Noble Late Harvest.
